In 1901 Carl Labhardt is replaced by August Schläfli as chairman of the board.
During and after the First World War the company is experiencing severe difficulties. It is not before 1927 that the sale of technical textile, especially of felts, is increasing again.
The economist Dr. rer. pol. Carl Freise becomes chairman in 1925 after the resignation of August Schläfli.
 
The world depression in 1929 is destroying all hopes of the past years. The business is declining rapidly which leads to dismissals and a number of employees of 60 as the crisis reaches its peak.
 
The company is barely surviving the Second World War. After a temporary shut-down, it emerges from the war without management and supervisory board
 
The first general assembly of the shareholders after the war takes place in 1948. Dr. Reinhard Brink is elected chairman of the management board.
 
The currency reform 1948 leads to a substantial improvement of the situation and already in 1949 the turnover doubled compared to the preceding year. Especially the production of technical fabrics is rising steadily.
